Why Muckmount Was Built for the Trades — And Why That Matters
When people ask what makes Muckmount different from all the other soaps out there, the answer isn't a fancy tagline or a marketing gimmick.
It's simple.
Muckmount wasn't built by a corporation. It was built by one person with a clear purpose.
Right now, the entire operation runs on a small budget and a lot of determination. It's just me—developing products, designing packaging, refining formulas, building the website, creating content, packing orders, and handling everything behind the scenes.
I bring in help when I need it, but there are no employees or departments making decisions for the brand. And honestly, I like it that way. Every decision, every detail, and every direction Muckmount takes reflects a vision I'm committed to protecting.
That vision started taking shape through my work as a rehabilitation counselor.
Over the years, I've spent countless hours inside technical colleges, talking with instructors and watching students learn the skilled trades. Those experiences gave me a level of respect I didn't have before.
Walking through an HVAC lab is something to see. Pressure gauges, wiring, refrigerant systems, and students troubleshooting problems most people don't even know exist.
Then there are the welding booths, where sparks fly with incredible precision.
The carpentry shops filled with the smell of fresh-cut lumber.
The automotive bays where skilled technicians are elbow-deep in grease, diagnosing problems most of us wouldn't know where to begin solving.
I've never considered myself particularly handy. I can use a drill, tackle some light carpentry, and fix a few things around the house, but spending time in these environments showed me just how much knowledge, skill, and craftsmanship the trades really require.
It also made me realize something.
Most people don't stop to think about who keeps the world running.
Who keeps the heat on in the middle of winter.
Who restores power after a storm.
Who repairs the cars we depend on.
Who builds our homes.
Who keeps our businesses running.
The people doing these jobs rarely ask for recognition. They just show up, do the work, and head home at the end of the day.
Those jobs aren't glamorous.
But they're essential.
That's why Muckmount exists.
Not because someone identified a market opportunity.
Not because another company needed another body wash.
Muckmount was built out of genuine respect for the people who keep this country moving.
The people who work with their hands.
The people who solve problems.
The people who come home dirty, sore, tired, and do it all again the next morning.
That's why our first bar is called The Journeyman.
It's a tribute to the men and women who spend years mastering their craft.
And it's why we built a soap with high-quality ingredients designed to cut through real dirt, grease, sweat, and grime—not just a quick workout at the gym.
